HNMCS at the Ontario Student Leadership Conference
Earlier this month HNMCS students Mariana Attardo ‘22, Sofia Anunciacao ‘22, Sara Rinomato ‘22, and Delaney Ferris ‘22 had the opportunity to travel to Niagara Falls to participate in the 44th annual Ontario Student Leadership Conference (OSLC). This conference is organized and led by Youth Leadership Camps Canada and is one of the amazing leadership programs that they offer to students throughout the school year. The OSLC conference is particularly focused on providing students with the skills and confidence to make meaningful contributions that drive engagement and a sense of belonging within their school community.
Students had the opportunity to hear from inspiring speakers like Cara Filler, Ian Tyson, Phil Boyte, and Jeff A.D. Martin, who spoke on topics such as resilience, self-worth, creating and improving school culture, and realizing your potential. Over the course of three action-packed days, students were able to attend workshops of interest where they met like-minded leaders from all over Ontario and shared how they are making a difference in their school community. These focused sessions allowed smaller groups of students to connect and explore the idea of effective leadership.
HNMCS is excited to offer the opportunity for students in grade 10 and 11 to attend the SPARK Leadership Conference that will be taking place on May 24th, 2023. This conference, also offered in collaboration with Youth Leadership Camps Canada, is geared towards students who are interested in taking on leadership positions in their schools. Next year, HNMCS will also be returning to OSLC from November 5-7! Information about both SPARK and OSLC ‘23 is forthcoming. Interested students are encouraged to attend as these conferences offer unique opportunities for students to develop and refine their leadership skills.
