Catholic Education Week and Honouring Mother Mary
HNMCS celebrates Catholic Education Week 2019 highlighting the theme “Living as Joyful Disciples”. Staff and students spent time rooted in prayer and classroom activities centered on doing justice and creating hope, while journeying together in faith and sharing the good news.
During the month of May, HNMCS paid tribute to Mother Mary in a very special way. Staff devoted a chaplet on Thursdays in the Chapel and everyone gathered for a crowning ceremony on the feast day of Our Lady of Fatima. Student Government President Geneva Hines ’19 placed a crown of white flowers on the statue of Mary and Student Prefects honoured her with commemorative gifts representing their executive portfolios. The liturgical choir sang beautiful hymns while collective prayer offered her praise.
Mother Daughter Luncheon
The Mother-Daughter Luncheon took place at LeTreport Banquest Hall for a special afternoon that celebrated the bond between mothers & daughters. It was a beautiful sunny afternoon where moms, daughters, aunts, grandmothers and granddaughters spent time creating special memories together. Keynote speaker, Lenna Bradburn, first female Chief of Police in Canada shared her incredible journey while her daughter Stephanie spoke about her love, guidance, support and strength
Everyone was pampered and there was much excitement over the incredible free giveaways compliments of bareMinerals and Skinatomy. A few rounds of BLINGO concluded the festivities with absolutely fabulous designer prizes!
