The Artistic Design Independent course offers HNMCS students the opportunity to deepen their understanding of art in society. The experiential learning component of this course allowed students the chance to learn first hand from community artists at Hamilton Craft Studios.

Here, they explored pottery, learning hand building clay techniques all while creating unique pieces. Students learned the science behind the firing and glazing processes and the best ways to reach their desired creative outcome for their pieces.

During their second session, students learned from a fibre artist and tried their hand at rug tufting.Their creativity and commitment to the works they created and understanding of the thoughtful care that goes into creating art and how art can be a statement of creativity and a functional part of everyday lift.
