HNMCS Stars Winter Season Update
The winter athletics season is in full swing in CISAA, here is update the Star’s winter session:
Varsity Hockey
The HNMCS Stars Varsity Hockey Team has shown improvement throughout the season. Starting with their tournament on November 23rd at York University. In their first game after the holiday break, the girls lost a hard fought game to Lakefield 5-3. Coach Gaudette and Coach Anderson were impressed with the girls' positivity and 'no quit' attitude. The team is led by senior captains Abi Filippazzo, Kenzie Wells, and Marinella Del Bel Belluz. Sophia Attardo has been a calming influence in net and gives the girls a chance to win each game. We are looking forward to an exciting second half to our season.

Varsity Volleyball
The HNMCS Varsity Volleyball has had an amazing start to the season. At the midway point of the season the girls have a 4-0 record, good for a tie for 1st in CISAA Division II.
- Coach Apuzzo & Coach LeonU14 Volleyball
The U14 Volleyball team is excited to get their regular season started and will face their first opponent, the Montcrest School, on Thursday, January 25th. The regular season will consist of five games with a chance to advance to the CIS Division II playoffs in mid-February. If pre-season success is any indication we can expect an exciting season for the team. In November, the Stars participated in the PSAA tournament where they qualified for the semi-finals after finishing third in pool play and got a second crack at a composed Rotherglen squad. After dropping the first set they came together to win the second 25-16 and force the tie-breaker. The third set proved to be a nail-biter as the teams exchanged point for point and the Stars were eventually edged out with a final score of 16-14. Despite the elimination, the girls were able to push their limits and set new goals for their upcoming CIS season. The U14 Volleyball team will host a tri-meet on home court on Tuesday, February 13th, 2024.
