Destination Imagination
Destination Imagination Inc. is a leading educational nonprofit dedicated to developing project-based learning programs that blend STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education with the arts and social entrepreneurship.
Each year students have the opportunity to take part in one of seven team challenges. HNMCS had three Destination Imagination Teams (2 Middle School and 1 Senior School) compete at the Destination Imagination Provincial Competition on Saturday April 7 at St. Basil the Great College School.
It was a great day and our girls demonstrated exceptional teamwork, confidence and creativity. The Senior Team, 50 Below, placed first in the Scientific Challenge: Unlikely Attraction. Students programmed a robot using sensors and code and created a script for their ride, the Deep Freeze, which interacts with all of the long lost foods living in the freezer.
The Middle School teams, The Old Souls and the DI Dreamers, both competed in the Fine Arts challenge, that had them write musicals embedded with a spectacle. The Old Souls placed second and the DI Dreamers placed third.
Both 50 Below and the Old Souls have advanced to Global Finals taking place in Knoxville, Tennessee from May 22 to 27. Good luck girls!
